Summary |
Dear Friends,
This week's Torah portion, Shemini, details kosher and non-kosher animals. We are fortunate to enjoy a kosher and delightful kiddush lunch each Shabbat afternoon. It doesn't just happen! It demands the loving preparation by the EHNTJC Kitchen Committee, composed of our friends Francine Schulman and Ken and Sandy Kaiz. Francine and the Kaizes work alongside a cadre of additional volunteers to help prepare and set up this lunch each week.
Can you imagine our Shabbat experience without our full kiddush? It would lack the element of fellowship that draws us together. I deeply appreciate the efforts of all our kitchen volunteers and look forward to honoring Francine and the Kaizes with a Torah blessing this Shabbat.
The food is not merely prepared; it is also purchased. Please consider contributing to our Gerald Melton Simcha Fund. I am making a contribution to that fund in honor of our Kitchen Committee. You are also welcome to sponsor a kiddush or a Friday evening oneg in honor of a birthday, anniversary, or anything! Please call our office -- 847 675-4141 -- to make arrangements.
Shabbat Shalom,
Rabbi Jeffrey Weill
