We Do Not Move On

Dear Friends,

We do not merely move on from Boulder, just as we must not move on from DC. To move on would be to turn our backs on the victims, and to ignore an ongoing threat to our community. So as we mourn, we are outraged. As we fret, we prepare. And we stand unified in the wake of these horrific, hateful attacks.

I am heartened that several fellow clergy members have reached out to me following the horrific attacks in DC and Boulder. I also feel confident in local law enforcement, with which we are in regular contact, and in our own professional security team.

As many are saying, the constant calls to violent action are not mere words. They cause literal, physical, even mortal harm.

Check out the guest essay in Newsday by Ted Deutch, CEO of American Jewish Committee:

We will not move on after attacks in Washington and Boulder - Newsday

In the meantime, we are undeterred. We will do what we Jews have always done: we gather, sing, pray and learn. We stand united.

Shabbat Shalom,

Rabbi Jeffrey Weill
