Dear Friends,
We at Ezra-Habonim, the Niles Township Jewish Congregation lift each other up during difficult times and rejoice with each other during happy times. This may sound trite, but it is true. EHNT is a community.
We have needed each other during this last challenging year. Antisemitism has risen. Israel is fighting a multi-front war. All Jews have struggled.
I cannot imagine experiencing these trials without the web of a Jewish community. I would feel adrift and alienated.
Besides the struggles of our people, individuals and families within EHNT and Congregation Kehillat Shalom have experienced personal losses as well: the death of loved ones, illnesses, and more. I hope – I believe – we have been present for each other at those critically important times.
And yes, we have celebrated. We’ve enjoyed many “Shehichiyanu” moments, occasions to praise God for allowing us to reach seasons of joy: happy festivals, joyful Shabbats, and family simchas.
Our community serves its most sacred purpose: the strength of community. Wishing you and yours a bright Chanukah and a healthy 2025.
