My name is Trudy Isbitz Brodsky and I am the aleph teacher in the EHNTJC Religious
School as well as the new Education Director. The aleph class forms the basis of
Hebrew reading and writing which will support all of our students’ subsequent Hebrew
prayer learning. I pledge that each child will feel confident in his/her Hebrew ability by
the time aleph year is finished. The children’s services that I will lead each Shabbat
have a goal of creating joyous connections to God and community while giving our
children opportunities to become proficient in the basic prayers.
I am the mother of 3 grown children, J.J., Rachel and Harry and the grandmother of
Sami, Jillian and Hailey. I have both as BS and MA from Northwestern University, a
Master Teacher Certificate from The BJE and am a Fellow of the Florence Melton

Program for Jewish Educators. I have seen Jewish classrooms from all angles-teacher, parent, grandparent and
student. That is how I know that good education requires the working together of all the stakeholders.
As Director of Programs and Services at The Kohl Jewish Teacher Center, Education Director at NTJC, Director of
Education at Anshe Emet Synagogue in Chicago and as an educator at NSS Beth El in Highland Park, I have honed my
skills to deliver an outstanding Jewish educational experience. This is going to be a great year and I hope you and
your children will be part of it!
Together, we will work to insure that our children will go forward into the future as knowledgeable, committed, joyful
Jews.
My love of teaching began after graduating from Wayne State University with a Master of Arts in
Teaching. I taught History in junior and senior high schools in Detroit.
Our move to Evanston, and having children of my own, changed my educational focus, and I
began what continues to be 30 plus years of teaching in synagogues. I've had students in
grades Kindergarten through 9th, and thoroughly enjoy passing on my deep interest in, and
love for Judaism. I relish interacting with students, seeing what engages them, and finding new
ways to foster their learning. One of my greatest pleasures is helping my kindergarten, first and
second graders begin their careers as Jewish lifelong learners!
Judith-Rae Ross’ career spans academics, teaching, writing and politics. She’s done each
with distinction. Earning a Ph.D. in History from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1978,
Ross has lectured and published worldwide on topics ranging from affects of ecology to the
roots of American anti-feminism. Ross has also done extensive newspaper writing, and
currently writes an online blog for a group of radio stations. But Ross has always been first
and foremost a teacher, and is beginning her 51st year in the teaching profession. Her
teaching has won her places in Who’s Who in American Education and Who’s Who among
America’s Teachers.
Ross’ life revolves around her husband, Allan; mother, Dorothy Lipstadt; son, Sol; daughter-
in-law, Erika, and her two beautiful granddaughters Olivia and Lilah. When not cooking up
vegetarian meals fit for Queen Esther, Ross designs jewelry and studies Hebrew. She points
out, “If you wish to be a teacher, you must keep learning.”
We are proud to have her on our faculty at EHNTJC where she works with our bet and gimel
students and imparts her incredible energy toward helping them add both Jewish identity
and competency to their lives.

Michael Rosenberg has been teaching at EHNTJC since it was just NTJC. He has taught here
in the upper grade level classes and parent classes for over 20 years. He runs the youth
High Holy Day services and gives a shiur every year on Yom Kippur.
Michael will be teaching daled-heih classes on Tuesday afternoons and Saturday mornings
and Lehrhaus (8th through 10th graders) on Tuesday evenings. This is in addition to his
teaching at Arie Crown Hebrew Day School Monday through Fridays and his teaching at
another religious school Thursday and Sundays. He is “retired”. Actually he is retired from
practicing law and is now a full time teacher, as he wanted to do something really rewarding!
Michael is described in the online white pages as the “beloved’ teacher at EHNTJC.

It is suspected that he provided the listing. (Ed.: Actually, there are literally hundreds of his
former students and their parents who would agree with the adjective)!
